Cornerstones of Care, 15 and the Mahomies Foundation Join Forces to Raise Awareness of Foster Care

Cornerstones of Care is proud to announce the launch of its #Foster15 foster parent recruitment campaign in partnership with the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation.

The Foster15 campaign will run through May as part of National Foster Care Month. It seeks to raise awareness of the need for foster parents and to encourage individuals and families to understand the requirements, goals, and expectations of fostering. The 15 and the Mahomies Foundation is donating $15,000 toward the effort, along with tickets and other items that will go toward fundraising. Foster15 aligns with the Mahomes’ commitment toward children and families.

Approximately 18,000 youth are in foster care in Kansas and Missouri. Even though that number has been reduced in recent years, neither state has enough foster families for the children in foster care. The goal of the Foster15 campaign is to help individuals understand the foster care process and requirements necessary to become a foster parent. Cornerstones of Care representatives will reach out for a no-obligation discussion about how to become a foster parent, share information, and help interested individuals as they move forward through the process.

Individuals interested in becoming a foster parent in Kansas can reach to a representative and Missouri residents can reach a team member. Each state has different regulations and requirements.

“We talk about foster parenting as being ‘the challenge you won’t regret,’” said Cornerstones of Care President and CEO Merideth Rose. “The first step in the process is to learn and have a conversation with our team and other foster parents to better understand how impactful foster parenting is for both the child and the foster parent.
